FLYING TO CHICAGOLAND AVIATION
FLYING INSTRUCTIONS Chicagoland Aviation is conveniently located 20 miles Southwest of the world recognized Chicago air traffic control terminal area. Our location at the Lewis University Airport (KLOT) offers the highest safety level of air traffic control services while allowing the convenience of a full service uncontrolled airport. The Lewis University Airport is a perfect platform for students seeking a valuable flight training experience, private pilots traveling to the Chicagoland area, and business travelers needing runways suitable for large corporate aircraft.
VFR Arrivals
Approaching the Lewis University Airport under visual flight conditions is simple and efficient. With a generous amount of open land surrounding the airport, perimeter fencing, and two large runways, it is obvious that the Lewis University Airport has the safest design of any airport in Southwest Chicago. Class E airspace begins at 700' AGL over the airport. Traffic patterns to all runways are left traffic with intentions broadcasted on the Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) of 122.8. AWOS weather information is available on frequency 118.525.
IFR Arrivals
Arrivals and departures at the Lewis University Airport in instrument flight conditions are expediated and protected through RNAV based approaches to all runways as well as Localizer and VOR based arrivals to two of the runways. Airborne air traffic control services are provided by Chicago Approach Control on frequency 119.35. With plans for the addition of a glideslope, Lewis University Airport is truly an all weather reliever airport and efficient destination for aircraft landing in the Chicago terminal area.
TAXIING INSTRUCTIONS
Take Taxiway E South past the self-serve fuel pumps. When Taxiway E ends take a right (West) onto the ramp access Taxiway. Follow this Taxiway onto the large concrete ramp. Chicagoland Aviation is located in the White Hangar labeled WindWalker Aviation Services. There are numerous Tie-Down T's on the ramp, feel free to park on any that are available. Rampside facility access is located on the North side of the Hangar.
