Matt Zahora - PresidentAs the founder of Chicagoland Aviation, I would like to personally thank you for your interest in our company. It is through a combination of honesty, dedication, and passion for our industry that we have formed a first class flight training and General Aviation service provider, Chicagoland Aviation. Whether we are guiding you towards earning a pilot certificate or consulting you on an aircraft acquisition, I can assure you that the Chicagoland Aviation team will provide the highest level of service through our personable business culture.

As for my industry experience, I began flying at a young age, progressed through my pilot certification and was hired as a First Officer for an airline at 19 years old. While employed as an Airline Pilot, I earned a bachelor's degree in Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University. I have accumulated over 5,000 flight hours in a wide variety of aircraft, hold all Flight Instructor Certificates and an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with a CL-65 Type Rating. Although I have been involved in aviation for most of my life, I still find General Aviation fascinating. The ability to fly the most technologically advanced aircraft to over 5,000 airports in the United States is an unmatched freedom. Witnessing General Aviation change people’s lives as a passionate hobby, a personal resource, and a valuable business tool is the force that drives me to continually enhance Chicagoland Aviation. I hope you enjoy our operation and the services we provide as much as we enjoy creating and developing them for you, our dedicated client.

Hello! My name is Tim Lutgen and I am the newest edition to an already outstanding team here at Chicagoland Aviation. I'm dedicated to providing the best flight training possible and absolutely love opening up all that General Aviation has to offer to my students.  I'm a recent graduate of the University of North Dakota where I double majored in Commercial Aviation and UAS Operations, and graduated with UAS Operations. I earned my flight ratings through flight instructor and have many unique experiences including multiple "flights" in an altitude chamber, simulating aircraft cabin decompression and hypoxia onset.

In addition to my manned flight experience, I was part of a team of both professors and students who operated unmanned aircraft in ground breaking Disaster Relief Services for the city of Oslo, MN during annual spring flooding of the Red River. I have also logged over 70 hours on unmanned aircraft simulators, and participated as a simulator pilot on a research project that dealt with integrating unmanned aircraft safely into the national airspace system.

I enjoy staying on the cutting edge of aviation technology and am passionate about sharing my love for all things aviation with others as a flight instructor. When I am not flying, I enjoy fishing year round (Yes, even ice fishing!), playing hockey, cooking, and seeking out great live music.

Hello!  My name is Matt Yoo.  Unlike many pilots, the flying bug didn't bite me until a little later in life.  I attended the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign where I majored in civil engineering.  After a brief career as a project manager in construction, I decided to follow my dreams and take to the sky.  My journey started with a discovery flight that my wife decided to get for my birthday.  I always thought that it was too late for me to take up flying and flying was one of those things that “I wish” I had done in my life.  When I realized how attainable it was to become a pilot, I decided to make it my career.  I've learned that it's never to late to learn to fly and I look forward to passing on what I have learned from my own training to my students.

When I'm not at the airport, I spend my time with my wife, our infant son, and two dogs.  My hobbies include watching sports and cooking although I hope to add traveling to this list in the near future.

I look forward to seeing you at Chicagoland Aviation as you decide to follow your dream of being a pilot!
